  100. To facilitate your evaluation, you have full access to all features of

  126. Installation
  127. ============

  129. To install Code.Print, place the distribution files onto a floppy disk or
  130. into a temporary directory on your hard disk.
  131.  
  132. From Windows, run SETUP.EXE included with the distribution files.
  133.  
  134. Follow the installation instructions in the setup program.
  135.  
  136. NOTE: Code.Print will not operate without first being installed by the
  137. provided setup program.  Code.Print will not run if the files are
  138. manually expanded from the SETUP.EXE file.
  139.  
  140.  
  141. Un-Installation
  142. ===============
  143.  
  144. To uninstall Code.Print, execute the program UNINSTAL.EXE that is
  145. installed in the program directory or select Add/Remove Programs in the c
  146. ontrol panel in Win95.  The UNINSTALL program will remove all program
  147. files, ini settings and registry entries.  Shared files are deleted on
  148. user approval.  The uninstaller supports Win95 shared file metering.
  149.  
  150. Default Fonts
  151. =============
  152. By default, Code.Print tries to print everything in 10 point Courier. It
  153. selects the Courier font by asking the printer device context to give it
  154. the first font name containing the letters "Cour"; if no font matches the
  155. request, Code.Print asks for the first font in the list.
  156.  
  157. Whether or not your system has a font named Courier, it is a good idea to
  158. select some fonts that you know work well with your printer and make them
  159. the defaults for Code.Print.
  160.  
  161. For information on how to change the default fonts, see "Creating a
  162.  Default
  163. Configuration" below.
  164.  
  165.     --------------------------------------------------------
  166.     TIP  If you will switch printers from time to time,
  167.          it may be best to choose TrueType fonts as your
  168.          defaults. Because TrueType fonts are device-
  169.          independent, the fonts you choose will always be
  170.          available, no matter what printer you use.
  171.  
  172.          To be sure that only TrueType fonts are reported
  173.          to Code.Print when you select default fonts:
  174.  
  175.            1. Run the Windows Control Panel.
  176.            2. Click the Fonts icon.
  177.            3. Push the TrueType button.
  178.            4. Check the box labeled "Show Only TrueType
  179.               Fonts in Applications."
  180.            5. Push the Ok button to confirm your choice.
  181.            6. Push the Cancel button to dismiss the Fonts
  182.               dialog.

  184.          Then run Code.Print and follow the steps listed
  185.          in "Creating a Default Configuration."

  190. Creating a Default Configuration
  191. ================================
  192. When you first install Code.Print, there is no CPVB.INI file in the
  193. Code.Print directory. We recommend that you create one.
  194.  
  195. To create CPVB.INI
  196. ------------------
  197.  
  198. 1. Run Code.Print.
  199.  
  200. 2. Press the Properties button.
  201.  
  202. 3. Choose the Fonts tab.
  203.  
  204.    The controls for selecting fonts will appear in the dialog. In a
  205.    group labeled "Section" are four radio buttons labeled "Header,"
  206.    "Title," "Code," and "Comment." These are the sections of a
  207.    printout for which you can specify an individual font.
  208.  
  209. 4. Select the font you prefer for each of the four sections.
  210.  
  211. 5. If you wish to set any other property settings do so.  The Help system
  212.    details each setting's function.
  213.  
  214. 6. When you are satisfied with your selections, press the Set Default
  215.    button near the bottom of the properties dialog.
  216.  
  217.    Code.Print will create the file CPVB.INI in your Code.Print
  218.    directory. This file stores all property options you have selected,
  219.    and Code.Print will initialize to these settings every time you
  220.    run the program.

  222. 9. Push the Apply button if you want to apply them to the current
  223.    session.
  224.    Push the Close button to dismiss the dialog.

  229. Files Required by Code.Print
  230. ============================
  231.  
  232. Code.Print for Visual Basic requires the Visual Basic runtime dynamic
  233. link library, CPVBSW.DLL, VBRUN300.DLL, CMDIALOG.VBX, SS3D.VBX, CBK.VBX,
  234. DWSPYDLL.DLL.
  235.  
  236.  
  237. Networks
  238. ========
  239.  
  240. Code.Print for Visual Basic maintains the file CPVB.INI to store
  241. configuration information.  If you are installing Code.Print for Visual
  242. Basic onto a network drive, be sure anyone using Code.Print can write to
  243. that directory.  Printing to a network may require you to set the
  244. Code.Print "Print While Processing" check box to off.   This makes
  245. Code.Print generate the output as a single multi-page print job.  If
  246. "Print While Processing" is checked, each page is generated as a separate
  247. document and thus will be treated by the network as a separate print job.
  248.  
  249. You may need to adjust the timeout setting on the print server.  The
  250. Code.Print output stream is not continuous and causes some networks to
  251. believe the document is finished prematurely.  If adjusting the timeout
  252. has no effect, redirect the output to a file or use a spooler program to
  253. collect the output before sending it to the network.
  254.  
  255. Although Code.Print can be installed on a network, only one user at a
  256. time may run Code.Print if you have a single user license.  If you
  257. require more than one user to be able to run Code.Print at the same time
  258. then you will need to obtain a license for each user.
  259.  
  260. Multiple licenses are dicounted according to a sliding scale.  (See the
  261. How to Buy menu in after selecting Information on the Main Form.)

  266. Code.Print for Visual Basic is an easy to use program.  All of the
  267. functions contained in Code.Print for Visual Basic are documented in the
  268. Windows on-line help system.  There is no user manual.

  271. Printer Drivers
  272. ===============
  273.  
  274. Code.Print for Visual Basic is designed to use the printer fonts and
  275. drivers that are available in your current Windows environment. Printing
  276. speed will depend on what fonts and drivers you are using. It is best to
  277. experiment.  Some fonts can be slower than others. Code.Print will
  278. display a message "Waiting for Printer..." while the printer driver is
  279. processing page and font data.  Since processing has been passed from the
  280. program to your printer driver, Code.Print will not respond immediately
  281. to a cancelation request while the "Waiting for Printer..." message is
  282. displayed.

  285. NOTE!  Code.Print does not work with the Generic / Text Only Printer
  286. Driver. This driver does not respond to any font or style operations and
  287. generates an error condition on every attempt to change the printer
  288. object. Code.Print will try to gracefully back out of this situation but
  289. will probably crash and dump the program. This driver is guaranteed NOT
  290. TO WORK. If you are using a dot matrix printer and want fast output, use
  291. the high speed fonts available in many dot matrix drivers.

  403. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  406. If the Code.Print distibution package is a commpressed archive file
  407. (ZIP) then extract the files in the archive to a high density floppy
  408. diskette or to a temporary directory on your hard drive.
  409.  
  410. From WINDOWS, run the program SETUP.EXE included with the distribution
  411. file set.
  412.  
  413. Follow the instructions in the setup program to complete the
  414. installation.
  415.  
  416. The original extracted distribution file can be deleted from the
  417. temporary directory after SETUP is finished executing.

  419.  
  420. The setup program SETUP.EXE is a custom installation program generated b
  421. y the WIse Installation System.  It contains all of the Code.Print
  422. program and supporting files.  The compression is in a ZIP compatible
  423. format.  Automated virus scanners should be able to process this file as
  424. if it were a ZIP file.  If you wish to extract the files for scanning run
  425. SETUP.EXE /X [pathname].  You can also use SETUP.EXE /Z [pathname]  The
  426. /Z parameter causes Windows to exit to dos after the extraction is
  427. complete.
